Zwift’s monthly ZRacing series is now in its fifth round following September’s Get Rolling, October’s Race Like a Champ, November’s Race Makuri, and December’s Race Like a Pro. Each month has brought more and more racers out to compete for the monthly GC.
Today Zwift published details for January’s ZRacing Series, where the theme is “Flat is Fast”. Let’s dive into the details!
Flat Is Fast – January’s Route Schedule

This month’s routes follow the “flat” theme… mostly. All the routes apart from Mech Island Loop feature no significant climbs.
- Stage 1 (Jan 3-8): Tick Tock
- 1 lap (19.2km, 53m elevation)
- Stage 2 (Jan 9-15): The Fan Flats
- 3 lap (19.4km, 57m elevation)
- Stage 3 (Jan 16-22): Volcano Flat Reverse
- 2 laps (24.9km, 100m)
- Stage 4 (Jan 23-29): London Classique
- 2 laps (16.5km, 50m elevation)
- Stage 5 (Jan 30-Feb 5): as in past months, this stage is actually 2 short races, meant to be raced back-to-back.
- Part 1: Mech Isle Loop (1 lap, 4km, 38m elevation)
- Part 2: Watopia Flat Route (1 lap, 10.7km, 61m elevation)

Series Structure
The ZRacing series consists of monthly sets of weekly races. Each race is scheduled for seven days (beginning 1:10am UTC on Monday and running through to the next Sunday). Timeslots are consistent week to week and month to month.
Races are scheduled ~15 times each day, so there are plenty of available times to find a race.

Monthly GC on ZwiftPower
Each monthly set of races has a time-based GC (general classification) which tracks riders’ best finishing times for each week’s race. The overall winners in each category for the month will be the riders with the lowest overall time for that month’s set of races.
See January’s GC on ZwiftPower >
With over 100 weekly timeslots available, riders can race each week’s event multiple times and try to better their finishing time.
Note: you must use a heart rate monitor and be on a smart trainer, smart bike, or power meter to show up in ZwiftPower results for this series.

Get the Badge
Each month’s series has its own achievement badge which you can unlock by finishing every stage for the month.
One and Done
Zwift has planned these events around the idea of a solid 1-hour workout. So each race should only take around 1 hour to complete, including your warmup and cooldown.

Tick Tock don’t have the right link
Fixed!
Looks like I’ll have to get creative to podium next month. I’m not winning any bunch sprints.
This isn’t ZRL
Is it just the races I have done or do these races have more unbelievable riders in. Did a race with 16 in but only 3 on ZP.
As they are officially promoted by Zwift, maybe they attract more newbies who do not even know about zwiftpower…. It is crap you still have to separately register to get “proper” results (with only half the field in them) :O/
How do the team standings work, I don’t understand. I can see it adds up the total of all our entries but is that two people have entered or my team has raced it twice? If I did it again would our count go up to 3? And the highest “counts” are always going to be above the lesser so if a team enter 10 times they’ll always be higher than the team entering 9 times no matter how fast everyone is?
When do you recon is the best time to join a race?
I guess your time depends alot on the race you’re in…
Typically, if you join races with more riders, you get faster times. More people pushing, more draft to rest in etc.
Hi
I raced the first stage in Cat B. I have a profile on ZwiftPower which is linked to my Zwift account but I can´t see my result in the League score board. Should I register for this serie or is there another explanation?
The events require the use of a heart rate monitor. This seems to be a common reason for riders not to show up in the results.
I did wear a HRM and ZwiftPower even gave me point
Hi guys.
I’m a newbie on Zwift and more on ZRacing.
Where is possible to find a global ranking on an event after completing an event?
Thanks!
The ZwiftPower GC link is in the post above. That’s the monthly time-based global ranking.
Also – welcome to Zwift!
Will there be a chance to make up a race?
Unfortunately no make-ups for any of the Zracing series
aarrgghh! Gutted!
if I start as a Cat B driver once in Cat B and can then experience a faster time in Cat A, will I be rated twice or how does it work then?
You can set times in each category, which count toward the GC.
How much time will there be between Part 1 & 2? Will you have to race concurrently, or could you do in different time slots?
You can and many do. The second races always seem better attended the the first. Some of us think you ‘should’ do them together, but it seems widely ignored. Do it as you see fit as it’s certainly not against the rules.
How many times can you do the race in a day? At what times is it available?
You can do them as many times as you like. It’s your best time that counts towards the standings.
Do you need to complete 5a and 5b back to back to count in the GC classification?
I don’t think you actually HAVE to, but that’s the intention.
Thanks Eric 👍
If you upgrade muddle of series can you bring times from lower category with you? Or will there be any makeups at end?
No and no. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
Hello. What happens if you are D cat rider, and racing in D cat races for this but then do a quicker time in a Cat C race. Will the quicker time in the cat C race count towards your D cat GC position?
Just done this and does not appear to have had any impact despite going three minutes quicker on stage three
Any thoughts?
if you race in C you’ll have a separate GC result for your C races to you Ds
Does 5a and 5b have to be raced back to back to count towards the GC?
In placing, are they accounting for fact that volcano reverse course was significantly longer?(all differences in length matter to those that missed a stage for schedule or upgrade)If it’s just about total time, people could strategically skipped that stage/volcano. I’m noticing women ahead of me with sane number of events that didn’t race volcano reverse thus making my time longer and placement lower
I think final GC will require 6 races … I don’t see any reason why any rider not complete every race should be higher in GC than you
What is Category E for? It is just there with no way to enter, no explanation, but then a few people show up in the results.
E is for people who haven’t recorded enough activity on Zwift to be classified accurately into a proper category. Basically, once you’ve done one E race, you should be good to go! (Or just go ride hard wherever you’d like for 20 minutes or more…)
Any catch ups for these ?, missed 1&2
Nope.
Sucks you miss a race and no catch ups guess I wont be doing anymore of these. Even though these are run 15 times a day there are still instances where you just cant get a race done. Short sighted for sure not to offer a make up on these..
I race for the Rhino team as a C, and there appears to be a discrepancy between the preliminary official team results ranking and the results I have calculated. Zwift is ranking the DIRT C team 1st with a combined time for top 3 team members of 6:43:19, DBR 2nd with 6:43:04, and Rhino 3rd with 6:45:24. When I add up the times of the top 3 riders for each team I get Rhinos 6:48:05, DIRT 6:50:01, and DBR 6:58:21. The top 3 Rhinos are Andrew Spencer (4th), myself (20th), and Johnny (21st). The top 3 DIRT are 1st, 19th,… Read more »
Can I catch up on the first race if I missed it?
Nope. No makeup races.
I would be nice to know what power-ups are available if any for these series races.
I used to include that info… not sure why I stopped. I’ll start again!
