I miss my smart trainer

Having to post this from my phone so excuse the sideways image.

After a couple of days off the bike, one enforced by travel, one due to a bit too much booze, today I located the gym and set about putting in an hour on the bike.

As the instructions were all in Spanish, I can’t say I achieved the most fluent workout. Frankly I had no idea what I was doing. And with no wifi in the gym (wtf?) I couldn’t Google translate any of the information. Or listen to YouTube. Proper fail.

Anyway I’ve broken my headphones, again. Pro tip : don’t buy shure se215 headphones. They are expensive garbage. Mine have broken now for the third time. Previously both of the ear pieces went, now the cable has failed. But that’s for another time.

I put in an hour on the bike. Due to my inquisitive button pressing this unfortunately meant I ended up doing 4 different workouts. I accidentally reset things many times. Oh well. Now I know. Stick to manual mode.

At approx 500 calories I’m fairly happy with my work. I have no idea what wattage I was at. It only has “levels” so I went off how I felt and my heart rate. I think the best thing I did was the last block, which was a solid ten minute effort with my heart rate around 170bpm. I think that puts me around 160 to 170w.

Zwift need not be worried. Had I bought one of these typical gym tier exercise bikes I’d have given up on cycling about 3 rides in.

The worst part of it all is washing my kit in the sink with travel wash. Oh the smell.

My plan is to ride every day for this week. Tomorrow should be a little more consistent. It’s really just damage limitation at this point. 3 puddings a day plus beer? I’m expecting to gain half a stone.
