Each week I try to review and reflect on my previous week on the bike. This allows me to see how my fitness and ability is progressing on a wider timescale than day to day. For previous weekly reviews please click here.
The challenge this week has been the two days away, neither of which were true ‘rest days’, and that’s created a situation where I will most likely be doing some kind of physical activity for seven days in a row. That would be riding Thursday, Friday, Saturday, long walk Sunday, then back in to my routine of three days riding Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in the week ahead.
As such I’m pretty tired right now, with plenty still to do.
Here are this week’s rides:
- Monday – Hottest Day Of The Year (So Far)
- Thursday – Roads So Hole-y They Could Be Pope
- Friday – Wind Face
- Saturday – Got Wet
Looking at the Fitness graph over on intervals.icu I am really pleased with being at my all time, or at least all-time-tracked peak fitness.
As best I am aware, this means my current level of riding is up significantly on where I was one or two months ago. The truth of it is, I can’t really do much more than I’m currently doing, so I expect this line to start to level out in the next month or so.
However, I want to keep up the hour+ activities, with multiple higher intensity rides per week. I genuinely feel better for doing this. But as I say above, this is a challenge when changes to the schedule occur. Seven activities in a row is too much for me, and those two rest days later in the week cannot come soon enough.
Of the work I have done this week, a good chunk has been in the sweet spot. That’s good news.
It’s looking like a wet one for the week ahead, so I will be almost certainly back inside. I have updated the software and got everything ready, so it should be fine to kick off with some indoor riding. And that will mean structured training. Whether that means I set off the week with a lower intensity ride is yet to be seen.
Weight-wise, all good. No changes expected or planned here.
So yeah, week ahead – seems to be indoors focused based on the terrible looking weather forecast. But that does give me excuse to check out the newest changes to MyWhoosh which I am looking forwards to. I’ve swapped to MyWhoosh Go – or what was MyWhoosh Go anyway. Now the old version is MyWhoosh HD and MyWhoosh Go is just MyWhoosh.
How confusing.
Essentially it means it should run better, but not look very nice on my crappy old cycling computer.
I guess we’ll see how that goes.
