A Day Is Not Enough

I’m well aware that for some, 3 hours on the bike isn’t a big deal. And 70km? pfft, why not 100km, right?

But for me, that was a big one. I felt alright on the day, but definitely was out like a light when my head hit the pillow on Sunday night. And yesterday I could tell I’d ridden further than I am used too. Not a bad thing, but more tired than I would usually be.

One thing I forgot to do on Sunday was put chamois cream on, and I paid the price. I have a painful saddle sore on my left cheek for my troubles.

I had some visions of doing the eighth and final workout from the Zwift Academy 2020 today.

But the truth is I couldn’t bring myself to do it when the time came.

I’d started early today – 7am – so finished at 3.30. Even so, by the time I got all my computer setup sorted out, and remembered to lube my chain (no euphemism) after I’d given the bike a thorough wash on Sunday afternoon, it was past 4pm by the time I got under way.

The most I could bring myself to do today was my easiest custom workout – 60 minutes @ 114w.

Hey, it’s better than nothing.

It’s definitely the right move to get back on the bike. But with just one day off after a big week I have to say I’m feeling it.

Hopefully by tomorrow I will have sufficiently recovered. The Garmin keeps moaning I’m de-training. I disagree. But then I’m not clued up on that front. All I do know is I like to ride my bike.

This week I’d like to do some anaerobic work, so it should be short bursts of high impact activity rather than sustained longer efforts. Maybe that’s crackers, I don’t know.

The weathers looking garbage for most of this week so I’m thinking I’m indoors for a while now. And I keep seeing new stuff for RGT, but I haven’t heard anything back regarding my password reset, sadly. I guess it’s new account time.

So all being well, I will do the Zwift Academy ride tomorrow, then do something RGT on Thursday.

If I’m up to it, I’ll try and slip in an outdoor ride on Friday afternoon, and then see what the weekend brings.

Maybe one day should be a rest day, too. That’d be nice.
