Though not entirely sure why, some days I struggle for sleep. Today was one such day, and I was up and awake at 06:20. That’s after going to bed at 12:30, so not an ideal amount of bedtime hours.
However, rather than stay in bed I figured I’d get up, get to work, and make up for it with a longer ride on my dinner break. So that’s what I did.
After yesterday, today was supposed to be about taking it easy. Always harder to do outdoors than in, but I had a great ride, doing a few short, harder efforts interspersed with just cycling about, enjoying the fresh air and a break from my screen.
It was definitely a day I could have quite easily stayed out longer. As it was, by the time I got about 3/4’s of the way around my mentally plotted route, I realised I wasn’t going to be back in time for my 2pm meeting if I went out as far as I had in mind.
A bit of a shame, that.
So I had to cut it a bit shorter than planned, but at 30km / 901 calories burned on a weekday dinner break, I will take that all day long.
