Overall not a bad ride today. I should have stayed out in the country side, I know that now. As per, once I got into the Town centre, I had a few “moments” – i.e. car’s pulling out on me, cars slowing overtaking me then immediately slowing down to block me, car driver’s telling me to use non-existent cycle lanes, that sort of thing.
The aim today was an easy-ish ride. Get some time on the bike. I wanted to do a couple of hours, but my fitness let me down a bit. By the time I get towards the hour mark I’m really starting to flag. I reckon I need to head outwards for an hour, and then I have to turn back and have no choice but to do the hours inbound leg. That feels like the only way I might get in that length of ride when outdoors.
One thing about riding outdoors is I always seem to burn more calories than on an equivalent indoor ride. No idea why that is. Not complaing though.
But equally when outdoors, I always seem to get a sore right shoulder. It’s a dull ache, I think my bars are either too wide, or the constant bumping of the crappy road surface aggravates a previous injury. Or both.
Yesterday I just couldn’t be bothered riding. I went for a walk instead. As per, I have the blisters on my heels – which, thankfully, don’t impact my cycling – but are uncomfortable non-the-less.
Hmm, I am sure I had something else to write on here today. I’ve left it so long since my ride I’ve forgotten. I almost forgot to do the post entirely. Hence, quite a jumbled mish-mash of thoughts today. Typically what happens is I will have some insightful thought whilst out riding, and I’ll think to myself… yes, I must blog that. And then by the time I’m home, showered, and ready to write, it’s all gone.
Well, imagine that but add on about 7 hours, and I really do have no chance.
I’ll call it at that.
Easy week: done.
