Dirty 30-ish

Friday felt like garbage, mostly mentally but also some physical discomfort caused by getting a sore ass riding a long one on Wednesday. So I skipped yesterday. And this morning when I woke up I wasn’t in the mood for a ride either.

But I convinced myself to go out. Take it easy, Chris, just get on the bike, pedal, and see what happens.

Well, I went out with a route in mind. I’d head out down a bit of the Guild Wheel out towards the East side of Preston, then I would cut right back and go West out past Penwortham. At that point I’d assess how I felt and see what else I fancied doing.

Perhaps not unsurprisingly, once I got out and without a strict regime to follow, I really enjoyed this one.

I’m reckoning I need some structured training back in my schedule as everything this last few weeks has been outdoors heavy and just generally tempo stuff. No doubt my consistency has taken an absolute nose dive. But even so I’ve enjoyed it.

The weather for the week ahead is looking a lot less pleasant than it has been so not only am I glad to have gotten in the big ride earlier this week, but it looks like Zwift may be the order of the day for more than just the one (or none) rides in the week ahead.

Due to rain and what have you my bike, and my lower half, have been filthy after the last two rides. As soon as I finish this post I’m heading out to enjoy listening to a bit of Glastonbury whilst giving the bike a good wash.

Anyway, feeling a bit better about life today. Been a bit down these last few days. Still not at my best, but heading in the right direction. Thanks bike.
