A pretty good one today, albeit resulting in an absolutely filthy bike… which I must remember I have not yet washed.
No route in mind, just try and get in an hour (didn’t happen) between 11 and 12, because I then had meeting’s from 12 for the next four hours. Lovely.
Aside from having no route in mind, I also didn’t know what kind of ride to do. But as ever with an outdoor ride, it ended up being on the more taxing end of the spectrum.
Sometimes I think having these time limits – having to get back home before my next meeting – makes me push even harder than I might otherwise do. I knew I wanted to get in at least 25km, so that did mean giving it some beans, although perhaps more beans could have been given.
Also one nice thing about going out just before the lunch break rush hour is that the roads were noticeably quieter. That is until the end when I came back via the busiest local A-road, and found heavy traffic due to roadworks. That bit was dangerous, and slowed me down. Not ideal when you are pretty sure you’re already running late for said meeting.
Anyway, as I say I’m neither showered nor is my bike washed. So I’m off to rectify both right now.
