Escape The 5 Year Olds

Oof. A long day today.

Being my youngest’s birthday we’ve had a day of partying. Two parties, one for the kids and then one for the family.

The kids one started at 10am.

By 10.05 I was ready to call it a day.

So much for any chance of doing any sort of personal work this weekend. Instead I just prepped for my ride, but didn’t want to leave my wife with the kids so had to grin and bear it for the two hours before they went home.

Funny really. A minute in an FTP test is about comparable to a minute with other people’s children. I mean, I love my kids… but I can quite happily do without anyone else’s.

So that was that.

When I did get out I wanted a long-ish ride, but knew I had to be back in time to shower, shave (head, face), and prep the next party. As such I got about an hour and a quarter and had a steady tempo ride pretty much.

Enjoyable.

However when I got home I felt – and continue to feel – really quite down. Not sure why that is. I’ve enjoyed the day and it’s nothing family related, nor cycling, nor really anything I can quite put my finger on.

Maybe I’m just tired.

Well. Hopefully it’s that.
