In short: it’s not right yet.
But in a bit longer: the really weird thing is that more of the pain is coming from the right of my knee, and on Monday it was definitely coming from the left side.
So, in short, the diagnosis is I have no idea what I’ve done.
There’s pain there. It’s not un-ride-able (not a word), but it’s not worth risking it.
I figure another very light ride tomorrow can’t harm. I don’t feel like I harmed myself today.
What I will say I had to turn the resistance down from 145w to 130w to drop the pain. As can be seen above, the initial idea was to ramp up to 145w over 5 minutes, ride for 15 minutes at 145w, and then cool down for 5 minutes.
I don’t know if it was as a result of the lower cadence than I’m used too, or my upright position on the bike, but whatever, it didn’t feel right. And I didn’t want to spin too fast, so I just dropped the intensity.
Overall though, it sucks.
Being off the bike for two days already has driven me nuts. Thank God the weather stinks outside or I’d be tearing my hair out. And I have none left as it is. Tearing my beard out, maybe.
Hopefully the recovery won’t take too long. I’d have thought being sat on my backside all day would be a good thing for it… but I reckon it’s not doing it any favours.
Time, as they say, is the best healer here. And I shouldn’t wish my life away.
