My legs have not fully recovered from Tuesday’s trip up the fells and other walking activities. I’ve got a terrible blister on my little toe which, if I didn’t wander round in my socks for most of the day, would be awfully uncomfortable. And then yesterday I took part in the “dad’s race” at my kid’s sport’s day and so have blasted muscles previously dormant for over half a life time just for good measure.
So yeah, dead legs.
But the thing is, my mind is active. Today’s ride was one of the most relaxing rides I’ve had in at least the last ten days. Incredibly freeing and essential. It’s just I can’t seem to put any prolonged amount of power down. I guess any kind of activity is better than none, but so far my sessions are borderline in terms of Garmin’s idea of productivity.
Anyway, it’s looking like I have 5 more week’s of trouble free holiday time to enjoy. And so pretty much any kind of activity is on the cards. I have several ideas in mind, including a few different fell walks. Exciting, though I would also kinda like to be working… which sounds tragic, but when you enjoy your work it’s no big deal to be getting paid for what you’d be doing for free for yourself anyway.
But that’s that.
I guess tomorrow will be a rest day. Sunday will be either an hour’s morning ride, or if I’m feeling more refreshed, something a little more intensive. I think I really need a bike rack for the car, then I can go a little further afield and try some new routes. Of course there’s always Zwift…
