The long and short of this one is I hurt my knee yesterday. It would probably have been sensible to rest it today, but whenever has sense won out on this blog?
Rarely, is the answer.
However I did, by and large, take it easy today.
One thing’s for sure: yes, my knee hurts.
Fortunately it only really hurts when climbing (and probably sprinting, but I don’t do much of that).
I’m hopeful that with a rest day tomorrow (Monday), and then maybe a recovery ride on Tuesday, that it will have had a decent amount of time to recoup. If not, I guess I just keep taking easier rides until it does return to regular riding feels.
I woke at work times this morning – 7:10 – so was up, coffee’d, and ready to go earlier than usual.
You’d think out on the roads that early on a Sunday that it would be quiet. Alas, no. For reasons still unknown to me, the roads are chaos due to a motorway closure.
With people sat in traffic, once they did become free they were all for getting a little too close to me, the poor cyclist.
Combine that with the knee pain and I was ready to call it quits perhaps a little earlier than I might usually have done.
One thing I did do today was cycle up to the restaurant I’m going too for my dinner.
For reasons unknown, the UK now seems to require calories are printed on the menu.
This is kinda crappy as it really makes me think twice about ordering a Lard Burger, or what have you.
Is there no place for fun anymore? Apparently not.
Well, it does suck when you realise an hour on the bike doesn’t even earn you a milk shake.
Maybe that’s the point.
Feels like a kick in the plums though.
