One Too Many Wrong Turns

Pressed once more for time, this morning I had less than an hour to get a ride in. I wanted something fairly laid back, partly because the Garmin tells me I’m in an unproductive training pattern, and partly because it’s a Sunday morning. Allegedly my only day “off” per week.

Today I figured I’d head up to Penwortham, then continue out to Hutton, loop back, hit Avenum park and then back through town. Unfortunately I took a few wrong turns and ended up not actually doing a big chunk of my planned route. The wrong turns ate up too much of my limited time so I had to cut things short.

Here’s an example of how “lost” I got:

Believe me, my idea of a nice Sunday morning is not to visit local substations.

One other thing, this morning it was jolly cold. A brisk 2 degrees C when I left the house, rising to, I believe, 6c by the time I returned home. My gloves didn’t do much to keep my fingers warm. I can tell you the cup of tea I had when I got back never felt so good.

Still, I got in my 20km (and a bit more) so happy enough with how things progressed even with a bit of bodging around my route and being short on time.

That takes me up to about 150km on the week which I’m happy enough with.

I’d really like to get a nice long ride in and I think with my work situation changing at the end of this week I’m going to be able too. So that’s nice.

I’m a little conscious of the start of the Zwift Academy at some point this week (I think) and I have neither done my ramp test, nor tested my legs. Silly me.

Maybe the forthcoming week needs to be a tad more laid back. Maybe that will have some bearing on my training status. All stuff to think on in my weekly review.
