There Goes The Easy One

[Posted a day late]: It’s rare that I miss my ride update immediately after the ride. I reckon I’ve got the suspected covid my youngest seems to have and currently feel absolutely awful. No riding today (Wednesday). Disappointed.

Well, there goes the week’s easy ride. Blown it on day 1.

I had in mind an SST session but by the time lunch came around I couldn’t face it. I’ve had a long day at work and with protesting legs before I even got on the bike and thoughts of having failed to complete previous efforts at 100% FTP when I was allegedly feeling fresh, I decided to skip the hard stuff and do an endurance ride instead. After all it’s still an hour on the bike.

As above though work was hard going today and I ended up bringing the laptop with me and struggling for the full hour to get through my task. Sadly I didn’t manage that and I hadn’t gotten it finished by the end of the working day either. I’m not insane enough to bring the work with me after hours so it can be my little treat to resume in the morning.

The session itself was fine enough. I didn’t watch much of it, so engrossed was I in the work. That’s a good thing though as really this session consists of 30 minutes at 160w steady, and to be honest that’s kinda boring.

I have noticed a really annoying knocking sound comes from somewhere on the bike when I’m sat up. I can’t figure out where it comes from and it’s not constant. It comes on and then fades away. I thought it might be the axle between the pedal cranks but it doesn’t seem to be consistent enough nor easy to repeat. Then I thought it was the saddle, but no amount of me putting my full body weight on it and jostling the hike repeats the sound. My only other guess right now is the handle bars are not tight enough somehow. But it all feels rock solid. Whatever it is, it’s very annoying. Fortunately, or perhaps not, it only happens what sat straight up. And even then only occasionally. I keep thinking I might record a video of it to post here but then I get comments about my unsightly leg hairs.

The things I have to endure eh?
