Think positive.
That was the mantra for today’s ride.
I hadn’t realised it was as sunny as it was until my sister in law came round at dinner time and we sat outside for a chat. Checking the forecast showed it was 21c (and it felt it) and whilst a thunderstorm loomed, it was a few hours away.
With a tough choice between finding something to do on the turbo, or heading out for an hour a so, the decision was made to get out whilst the sun shined and head out in to the countryside.
Think positive. Get an hour and a bits worth of exercise before the rain.
And I need to think positive as going 7 weeks without much on the job front is really getting me down. But last night I decided there’s really no point moping over it. I am applying to relevant work. There’s not a whole lot more I can do. The market is on its arse.
Why not get out, whilst I can, and do what I love? A bit of countryside cycling. Think positive.

So off I went.
And by and large it was glorious.

I found some freshly laid tarmac. Lovely and smooth. So unlike most of the countryside back roads.
I managed to get in over 300m of climb, along with a small timed climb segment up Mill Lane climb.
The only downside was when I got home, my back door key wouldn’t turn in the lock. So here I am, sat in the shed, waiting for the wife and kids to return from the supermarket so I can have a shower. It’s kinda nice anyway, say listening to the birds.

Anyway, a decent ride. Came home. Only two jobs been listed whilst I was out and I’m a match for neither of them. On the plus side, had 3 direct emails regarding some work I might be suitable for so once I get back in the house I’ll get in touch and see what’s happening.
Seems thinking positive has some merit.
