All the fun ones tonight:
- Road works
- Pollution
- Angry motorists trying to shave 0.3 seconds off their commute
- Insane headwinds
- Lack of motivation
- Dog walkers with their dog on one side of the path and the lead fully stretched across as they walked on the other
What else?
Hmm. I don’t know.
All I do know is it got to about 20 minutes in, I looked down, saw I’d done only 5km and thought… I’m really not enjoying this.
Truthfully I only went out because I felt like I should, because it’s a long weekend. But it turned out all of Preston was trying to get home from work, and so the roads were a bit chaotic.
I was only going out for recovery, but I’ve aggravated my sore shoulder. I’m not sure if that’s the way I’m sitting for work, or whether it’s my bars aren’t the right size for my shoulders, or whether it’s combination of the two. All I do know is I keep using my foam roller each evening and the crunching noises it brings from my body are somewhat disconcerting, yet equally deeply satisfying.
Oh, and it does seem to relieve the pain. It will be interesting to see how my shoulder feels come Tuesday, having not sat at the desk for 4 days.
Anyway, all together a pretty poor ride today. Really not particularly enjoyable, nor beneficial.
I think I might skip tomorrow and then do the Stage 5 Longer ride on Saturday. Or vice versa. See how I feel.
