Time Flies When You’re On Two Weeks Free Trial

Has it really been two weeks already since I did my 4DP test?

If only time went that quickly during the activity, it wouldn’t seem half as bad.

Yeah, I couldn’t believe it today when I logged into Wahoo SYSTM and I had hit my 2 week trial period. I was going to try knocking the workout down to 90%, and then assuming it always reads 10% over, my figures might actually align with what the workout should expect from me?

Does that make sense?

Probably not from a mathematical stand point 😀

Anyway, I was pretty disappointed to see that as I’d got the bike on the turbo and was ready to do an indoor workout. Outdoors it looked grim and it was rush hour… never a good combo.

But in the end, when the software basically said “no”, I decided I’d say no to an indoor ride and go out instead.

One wrong move today was to wear a long sleeve jersey.

As I set off I felt great. Nice and warm as I meandered through the traffic on the way out to the open roads.

But once I got there I was quickly too hot. Oh well, not a lot to do about that other than pedal on.

I had an idea in mind today to do ~30 minutes of hard effort and then ~30 minutes of take it easy.

Had I been able to do an indoor ride it was looking like Recovery central.

Why?

Because the Garmin is whinging at me, that’s why.

Since knocking the FTP down to 228w it’s constantly nagging me to up it.

It’s good for the ego, but I keep ignoring it.

What is more concerning is the last 3 rides (including today) have been telling me to recover for … days.

55 hour recovery recommended?

That seems excessive.

BUT I was knackered today. And yesterday I got a terrible night’s sleep.

That was a big reason why I wanted an indoor recovery session.

It seems a little over kill though to suggest I’m that badly thrashed. I don’t feel it… but maybe I should take a prolonged rest this week? Thursday & Friday maybe?

But out there today I really pushed myself.

It’s fairly rare for me to clock in a >30kph average, and I did plenty of stopping today at lights and stuff so this included some massive efforts.

Because I was feeling decent I decided to ditch the idea of finishing early and instead pushed on for another hard 30.

In the end I felt really good for it.

This new job is great, but being at PC, mainly sat on my ass thinking all day is harder than it sounds. So the thought of sitting on the bike for another 60 watching the screen is hard to take. It will become inevitable once winter settles in… and hell, it maybe the only way to stay warm with the cost of living etc, but for now it’s too compelling to go out.

And when I have rides like today, it makes it even harder.
