Phew, this one was a hot one. And not only was it a hot one, it was a busy, packed full of people ride. Now this was partly because of the route I chose – just made up en route – but also because it was a hot day, and a lot of people were out enjoying the sunshine.
Heading out, I didn’t have a particular ride idea in mind. I figured it was nice and sunny, 18c, so I would get out and see what happened. As it turned out, I felt knackered. I don’t know if this was because of the heat, or because of the earlier rides in the week taking it out of my legs, but I just couldn’t find it in myself to put down any power.
So instead, I just cruised around, taking it easy, spinning the legs out, and seeing the sights. Mainly the drunken revellers back out en masse, post covid lock down. I suspect the town centre is going to be rough / busy tonight. Boy howdy.
I’m a little concerned that I have smashed myself too hard this week. That Tour of Watopia Stage 5 ride absolutely killed me, and I don’t feel I have yet fully recovered. However, with the nice weather I also don’t want to skip a potentially lovely outdoor riding day. So it’s difficult.
My plan is still to head out tomorrow morning. I’d like to get in a longer ride – over an hour, go somewhere a bit further afield, and ideally off the main roads. If I can get that in, I will be happy.
Have to say, since my ride, I have over indulged. Was invited round to the in-laws. Have had too much pizza and beer, and now I feel like all my hard work on the week has been undone. Silly me.
