Each week Zwift sends me an email summarising my activity for the week. For previous weekly reviews click here.
I’m really not sure why this week’s Zwift stats are missing the fact I leveled up. I reached level 11 this week. No major feat, but a good indicator of progress. And only one level away from opening up the Alpe Du Zwift.
It’s interesting in a way that Zwift behaves differently from most games. Typically as you level up, you get more powerful, and the game gets easier. With Zwift, it seems to go the other way. The game continues to get harder. Or more challenging. I guess it’s been hard since day one.
I’m really happy with this week’s progress. I messed up on Tuesday by riding twice and hurting my legs. That was a decent lesson to learn, and I’m grateful to have learned it without doing too much damage.
I put in some longer rides on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and then a 55km ride on Sunday. That last ride took it out of me, somewhat. Not like the Tuesday ride though.
One thing I need to work on is getting over “feeling bad” about taking rest days. I may ride again later this evening, a 15km recovery ride – green and blue zones only. My legs still feel taxed from the big climb, but I don’t want to wait too long before getting back on the bike.
With the bank holiday weekend ahead, I’m expecting to get another 50km ride in this weekend. Not sure what route I’ll take this time. Maybe do some laps, rather than a big circuit. Probably won’t do another climb, or if I do, only a small-ish one.
Lastly, I ended the week on a guesstimated 164w. I’ve been doing some playing with the Strava Developer API (yes, I am a nerd) and am hoping to add some of these graphs and charts to my blog in such a way that they update in “real time”. Right now, it’s quite a chore to get this data, but I feel there is value in being able to see it.
