Each week I try to review and reflect on my previous week on the bike. This allows me to see how my fitness and ability is progressing on a wider timescale than day to day. For previous weekly reviews please click here.
Something approaching normality is returning. Holidays, illness, injury, it’s all out of the way now – I think – and with the lighter nights and hopefully warmer days ahead, things are generally looking up.
Mostly this week’s riding was outdoors, and that was largely to avoid the computer room as much as possible.
Here are this week’s rides:
- Tuesday – 97? 95? Ughh
- Wednesday – A Gentle Breeze
- Thursday – Cancel Culture
- Saturday – Stoned
Actually, I say that and then I have just realised I am away with work next week Tuesday / Wednesday. So next week I need to switch up and ride Monday, Thursday, and Friday. On the plus side, that does take us into a Bank Holiday weekend.
Right, so this week.
Yeah, overall pretty good. I managed to get in 100+ km, and being that three rides were outdoors, two of which were in ridiculous wind, I am pretty pleased with that.
Currently my plan is just to ride. No major structure. I know that the more time I can put in on the bike, the sooner my fitness will return. At that point, structure can follow. But for now, any riding is good riding.
I can see my weight is creeping up – or has crept up. I’ve gained 1kg for no power output improvement. Heck, I’ve lost power and gained weight. The worst kind of combo.
But again, all will be rectified with riding.
I’m sort of err’ing towards outdoor rides lately. That’s not because our roads have suddenly improved – far from it – I just need to clear my head. And being outdoors does seem to burn off more calories overall for the time spent – not sure why that is.
Anything else?
No, I don’t think so. I could be doing better I think – overall really, not just on the bike. But I’m trying. And maybe that’s enough?
