Each week I try to review and reflect on my previous week on the bike. This allows me to see how my fitness and ability is progressing on a wider timescale than day to day. For previous weekly reviews please click here.
Incidents a-plenty this week, seeing me head back indoors for the first time in a while. It was good to try out the new MyWhoosh routes as a result, and both got a decent write up.
Beyond that it was nice also to do some climbing, though shortly after that ride I knackered up my back – and whilst I think it’s only a pulled muscle, I am currently off the bike until I can stand up and sit down without sounding like I’m 95 years old.
Here are this week’s rides:
- Monday – Cycling Incidents Are Like Buses
- Tuesday – MyWhoosh – First Ride: Alcatraz AWOL
- Wednesday – MyWhoosh – First Ride: Area 52
- Saturday – Gallows Lane
I definitely felt tired this week. Being indoors, it’s a case of picking the exercise / effort level ahead of time, whereas outdoors it’s far more free flowing and reactionary.
As such I did less work than previous weeks.
Not a bad thing, as such. I need to recover every now and again. And the graph can’t keep going up and to the right (can it?)
Both indoor rides were longer rides, which is good. And Saturday’s ride was a nice long one outdoors.
I wish I had the time and freedom to ride whenever I wanted, I really do. Midday longer rides would be such a treat.
Overall then yeah, not a bad week. Sucks because of the incidents and whilst I keep thinking I should get a Go Pro or similar, really would it make any difference? Truthfully I feel like it would simply give my family some 4K footage of me being murdered.
On that happy bombshell, I shall bid a painful back breaking good bye.
