I’m not sure if the cobbles felt extra rickety tonight due to riding on the Time Trial bike. That’s some level of realism if so.
It might just be that the cobble effect is more noticeable when going slowly.
Even so, I swapped bikes to the Specialized Allez.
I’m not sure why this picture comes, I think, from much later on in my rides. But anyway, bike swapped. Cobbles felt about the same so I decided to try going a bit faster.
This picture makes it look like I put in a new person best. The streamers are for the person in front (congrats). I was taking a very leisurely warm up indeed.
I’m experiencing a bit of pain in a few places at the moment. My knees and lower back feel a bit sore. I’m not sure if this is due to bike position. I’ve made a bunch of changes lately – and even some more today – so hopefully I’ll find the right position soon.
On the second round time I gave a proper attempt, but had misjudged the run up. Effectively the sprint started from about 140w, so I needed to ramp up the speed after I’d already crossed the start line.
That hurt my time.
Even so, if I get a better run up next time, and put in the same effort, I should be able to beat my previous record.
I’d had to stop and start a bunch of times on this ride. Putting the cooker on, then when it was warm, jumping off, putting in some of the tea, then five minutes later, another bit of the tea, and so on.
Good grief.
Anyway, when it came down to it, I managed to box off the 10km in under 19 minutes. As well I should, considering how flat Richmond flat is. Flattest in the whole of Zwift?
Nothing sterling on this ride. Just a nice warm up, a couple of laps, some sprints, lots of fellow cyclists to ride with.
Thanks for the ride ons.
Bit concerning, 192bpm heart rate. According to the guidance – 220-{my age}, that means I’m about 8bpm over what I should be doing as a maximum effort. What can you do though?
Nothing spectacular on this run. Just a good way to spin up the legs before hitting the hills.
