Avoid The Cow Spray

Back on the bike again. And a lovely day for it, too.

Now then, it’s been 4 days off. Why’s that then, I hear you ask. A good question. A very fine question, even.

It all comes down to corona virus. Of course. Sunday was a messed up day so that was the first of the four. Then I had my second vaccine jab on Monday morning. I felt alright after that, and was already planning on taking a rest day that day.

On Tuesday I woke up with an absolutely banging headache. And the day got worse from there. Lot of work related stuff, long story short, resigned from my job and the fallout was nuclear.
Wednesday was much of the same. Sore arm so not wanting to ride outside, what with the constantly battering the local roads send up through the forks. But worse was the headache. Absolutely awful. Paracetamol and ibuprofen couldn’t shift it. Another hard day of meetings as to why I was leaving etc etc. Boy howdy.

Anyway, fortunately the majority of today has been headache free. It looks like I’ve sorted a new job already, and I got in 40 minutes outdoors on a late lunch ride. The route I picked was one I’ve done before but since then has been reshaped by huge road works around a new motorway junction.

By and large it was a nice ride. The one disgusting thing was this foul tractor that came past me with rancid water spraying out the back of the trailer like a leaking tap, but a serious leak at that. It went everywhere. I decided to turn around and go the other way around the loop, and fortunately the filth had dried up when I came back to that point about twenty minutes later. Rank.

Anyway, I don’t think I’m going to hit my riding goals this week, but I’ll do my best to get the most efficient workouts in the time I have. Just need this headache to bugger off for good, which hopefully tomorrow it will.
