It was super windy today – but that sort of dangerous gusting wind, rather than anything steady. Every so often a wild gust would come out of nowhere blowing me seemingly any direction it desired.
As such I probably should have stayed indoors, but with my SYSTM problems I figured what the hell, I’d go out, stick to the country side roads and probably be OK.
So yeah, it was very windy.
However, I had a pretty decent ride all the same.
Heading up to Longridge I knew I wanted to do the reverse of the imaginatively titled Back Lane descent I’ve done a few times now. According to Strava that would be Back Lane Drag. Who thinks up these names?
I really like it up that way, with the views of the fells off to the right and the peace and quiet and lovely green fields. If only it wasn’t so criminally expensive to ever hope of moving around that way, I’d love to. Also, it’s a bit impractical for things like schools, shops, and work I suppose.
Heading back towards civilisation one crappy thing happened.
A friendly motorist (they do exist) waved me out of a junction, and as I pushed down and clipped in on my left leg I really put a ton of torsion on my knee. It really hurt at the time and I kinda limped home after that. I’m hoping I’ve not done anything serious, and am still aiming to ride another similar ride tomorrow morning… weather permitting, but I’m a little concerned.
As I sit writing this it’s 9pm, the rain has finally arrived, but I believe it’s supposed to be a shower. Hopefully it will be dry again in the morning, but I’m not super hopeful. Anyway, my bike is due a damned good clean so as long as it’s not raining I’ll be riding.
