Sunday morning outdoor bike rides. It’s what the world was made for. Looking out of the curtains, my first task of the day, I saw dry concrete. Great success!
Whilst drinking my morning’s cup of coffee, what I noticed when I looked a little more closely was just how windy it looked outside. Blowing sideways. When the tree tops are rocking, that’s one thing. When the trunks are shaking at the root, that’s something else.
Wasn’t going to stop me heading out though.
If I’d have stayed in today, I would have gone for a sweet spot session. I’m almost certain my shoes are now set up pretty much spot on. Maybe a tiny tweak is needed, but it’s very close to perfect. My old shoes now feel a little weird by comparison, but rather than risk muddying the new ones up – even with the shoe covers 😉 – I went for the old ones just to be safe.
The route I had in mind today was timed at just under an hour. I needed to be back for my wife and daughter to use the car whilst I looked after my youngest, so there wasn’t a huge amount of time to spare. Even so, I managed to get in two things I’d wanted.
First, I went to visit my grandad’s memorial bench. Fun times. It’s at the local golf club and I think the golfist on the first tee thought it was odd that this high vis guy in sunglasses had intruded on his warm up routine. I didn’t linger. Bench looked nice though 🙂
Then I decided I’d pop in to Amari Super cars. It’s a local super / hyper car dealership with all the crazy over the top brightly coloured super cars you’d wonder how the heck anyone round here can afford. Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Aston Martins, Mclarens, and probably plenty of others I had no idea about. Such a pity I don’t have a working camera at the moment. I’ll take some snaps once I do. Cool, even if like me, you don’t much care for cars.
Following that I took a trip through the park and then went home.
Weirdly, not only did Garmin think the ride was a benefit to Sprinting, but then I got an email from Zwift saying they’d analysed my stats from Zwift Academy 2021, and concluded I am a sprinter. News to me. Honestly, I trust the outcome from The Sufferfest far more.
Anyway, rest day tomorrow, and my thighs are happy about that.
