Somewhat disappointingly, I only managed to get out on the bike after 5pm today. I started early, and finished late. The perfect chump employee. Well, I’m not an employee, I guess that’s what makes it worse. I only get paid for my 8 hours regardless of whether I go over, and this week I’ve gone way over.
Anyway, it was for a good cause.
So, when I finally did get out it wasn’t quite as lovely as it had been throughout the rest of the afternoon. But it was still very pleasant. Easily enough for short sleeves and bib shorts. I did see several cyclists out in their long sleeves, and one or two in jackets. I guess they haven’t been heading out in the proper cold of January. Today’s 18c was basically Tenerife tier by my standards.
Route wise, today wasn’t set in stone. I was planning on getting in an hour and seeing how far I could cover at a recovery(ish) pace. I think I did alright with this. I mostly stuck to my goals of keeping it a light ride, even on the hills. I did go a bit too hard at some points, which is why I keep saying indoor stuff is best for recovery.
As ever, didn’t bother with the heart rate monitor today. No point. However, I do think I figured out my issues with Zwift / the turbo trainer. I think I’ve been putting the rear axle thing on too tight. I’m wondering if that’s been the cause of my issues during the Tour of Watopia?
There wasn’t a huge lot else to report today. I went out, got some sun, enjoyed the fresh air, and had I gotten out of the house earlier I would have definitely stayed out a bit longer and done a bit more. As it was I had to get home as tea was ready.
Hoping for more of the same tomorrow – it’s another hot day, and this time I can’t get held up by work. Hoorah.
