Well, sort of. Technically I believe Christmas Day and Boxing Day are Bank Holidays, but let’s be real. No one considers them a Bank Holiday in the same sense as the rest of them.
One crackers thing this time around was that my boss at my new gig asked if I was working today. Being Scottish, maybe they have different bank hols to us… but no, I wasn’t working. Not that I’ve done much. Just spent time with the family and enjoyed a three day rest.
I wasn’t going to go out today.
But by the end of the day I’d had a can of beer and it seemed like a good idea.
As it was, the roads were super quiet. For once I didn’t see a single cyclist. Not just roadies, I mean … anyone. Even pedestrians were few and far between.
The downside is it’s going dark way earlier now. Dark by 20:10, so I was on a time limit. My sun glasses are useful most of the time, but in the low light they aren’t so great. Another reason to head home earlier.
In the end I got about 35 minutes out there and I tried to make them count. Not ideal with a belly full of sausages and chips, but hey, you make do.
Overall then a decent ride. With next to no road traffic about that always makes it more pleasant. It was only after I was about 15 minutes out I remembered I’d said last time that I ought to stay indoors. To be honest, I think that’s true. But when it’s like it was this evening it’s a pleasant exception.
Anyway I still have last week’s weekly review to write – but I’ll pull some “video magic” and edit the times so this one posts after that one. So I’d better go do that now before I fall asleep.
