I bought a new bed recently, it got delivered last week. Replaced a divan with a oak thingy.
Why’s this important?
Because this here new bed is chunkier and wider than my old one. And last night, at about 5am, I woke up and figured I wouldn’t be getting back to sleep until I’d emptied my bladder.
Job done, I was heading back to bed in the pitch black, and wham, I walked right into the big bedpost thing that juts out where my other one didn’t.
And bloody hell it hurt.
Anyway, if today hadn’t been a scheduled easy ride, I might have skipped it. But as it was only planned to be something very gentle, I decided to go with it.
As I sit here, my knee is still hurting. It may not have been the smartest idea, all things considered. But at worst I think it’s only bruised. A painful lesson learned.
So, rest day tomorrow, and then given I’ve hit my goals for the week, unless it rains / snows / some other reason for keeping me indoors, I’ll aim to head out for both Saturday and Sunday’s rides.
I can’t finish of the TdZ even if I do have to stay indoors, as Stage 8 only comes available on the 8th. No way am I repeating the jungle circuit. Anyway, happy enough with the week, so for now, rest time.
