Now That’s What I Call Not Recovery, Volume 2

The Tour of Watopia Stage 4 absolutely smashed me. So today I was looking for a bit of recovery. Perhaps recovering outdoors is just a bad idea. Unrestricted, I go a bit silly.

I’d left it a bit late also today. What can I say? I have a lot of stuff to do each day. Every day I wake up and think I’ll do my cycling at dinner time. And every time dinner rolls around, I feel like I’m not yet ready, so I put it off.

Well, I put it off long enough today – almost to the point I didn’t bother.

Anyway, I did get out.

And it was a nice night for a ride – shame for most as the roads were largely empty (of cyclists, anyway). There were enough flies out to make up though – perhaps the other cyclists usually do their bit and eat them all. Today I hate to eat double portions.

So whilst today should have been recovery, as the graph shows, it was anything but.

Yet again I had heart rate monitoring issues. I don’t even know why I bother with that thing anymore. I keep saying it, but I keep wearing it. It’s useless. Wahoo don’t seem to care either, which annoys me no end.

As it was only a short ride I didn’t get far today.

I’m hoping to fill in the gap on the week with another session tomorrow. Not sure where too, but I should be finishing at 3pm so get that extra hour to do a bit of light pedalling. Lots of sun for the days ahead, so that’s nice, too.

All in all, not bad, and glad to get out, get some exercise and some fresh air.

It’s another 15km on the week, even if I went too hard.
