Performance Condition: Fair

Slacking off yesterday, I figured I wasn’t really due another rest day today. Combine that with hearing my contract might very well about to be canned (long story, not my fault at least), and I figured what the heck, why not make the most of the rare sunny / dry spell, and get the heck out for an hour.

Not wanting to go too hard, I figured I’d do a meandering circuit of Preston, ultimately heading down towards Avenum Park – always a nice place to ride through.

When I got down there, the River Ribble was looking fit to bursting, so I decided to follow it down for a bit and check it out on more open and empty pathways.

The last ride I did was the SST session and I forgot how much work that one is. That wasn’t the reason for slacking off yesterday – actually, that was more hang over (one pint of draft!) and big fat curry belly related.

Even so, with a days rest, I just wasn’t up to smashing myself again today.

And the Garmin gently reminded me how lame I was doing.

Now, I got that alert fairly early on – it seems to happen within the first 10 minutes of my rides. I always think that’s a bit daft, as I will take it easy for at least the first 5 minutes when outdoors for my warm up. If anything it should base it off the 20 minute mark, or something.

Anyway, I was targeting a total of greater than or equal to 500 calories burned, which I managed today in the ~50 minutes of riding I did. I’d say mission accomplished really, even if it was all a bit stop.

Have I earned an easier ride tomorrow?

Well, I don’t know.

The thing is, I really ought to do another SST session. Kick start the week properly. But if it’s a nice day again, looking at how busy with meetings my calendar is for tomorrow, I might try and stealth out just to get away from the computer. Then again, I may well be away from the computer a lot more than expected very shortly 😀

Whatever, I shall be riding tomorrow.

And hopefully I’ll do a little better than “fair”.
