Run Flat Legs

Lots of running related things today. Only yesterday I reported that I bought a Zwift Runn – less than 24 hours later it’s here, and ready to be installed. The installation doesn’t look that straightforward, but that’s for a different post. I haven’t gotten around to that yet.

Also at lunch time I went and got gait analysis, and bought some proper running trainers. £140 that cost me.

Combined, that’s £211 I’ve spent in the last 24 hours just to see myself through this Tour de Zwift 2024 run. Crazy. However I know I am sufficiently cheap enough that this will motivate me to actually do it, or I’ll be forever mad with myself.

But.

Yes, there is a but.

The whole running thing is absolutely slaughtering my legs. After the run on Thursday I literally turned into an 90 year old grandad legs and couldn’t walk properly for 3 days. Only just about recovered yesterday, I then had to run 500m as part of the gait analysis today… and that wasn’t difficult but it made me remember how much my legs are thrashed.

So of course I came home and did a SST session.

Not going to lie, this one was really tough.

Particularly the final two intervals, which I cannot remember wanting to quit something that much on Zwift for a looong time.

Anyway I did get through it, but I am really bushed right now. I figured I better write this up sooner rather than later, as I feel like going for a lie down ASAP.

However, in doing a ride I did earn the right to drink one of the White Chocolate Raspberry protein drinks, and that almost makes up for it. Almost.

Oh, and as I did this one today on Zwift’s Yorkshire map, which was deserted, I got the polkadot jersey like an absolute champ! I think that’s only the second time in my ~3 years on Zwift that I’ve taken a jersey. Whooptido.

Right, the sofa awaits.
