Well, no idea what the heck went wrong today. I’ve not experienced anything quite like that before on Zwift.

Things started normally enough. I wanted to do the Short SST session over my lunch break. It’s 50 minutes, so it’s always a push. But it’s possible. As such I had my Zwift session up and running, joined and waiting for me to clip in.

Setting off, I was frustrated as I couldn’t get my phone to connect to Zwift. No big deal, it happens sometimes. It makes taking screenshots a pain in the arse, but I can deal with it.

Warm up done, I was just settling in to the hard work ahead, looking up at the clock and ruing the next 40 minutes of leg ache. Even before I’d set off I wasn’t exactly in the mood for this one, but I knew I needed to do it all the same.

However, two minutes in, it just … well, I don’t know. Everything just stopped working. Zwift was on, my music was on, but the rest? Not so much. All four things – HRM, cadence, power, and erm, what’s the other one? Control? I can’t remember. But all of them died.

Weird.

So I got off, unplugged things. Plugged them back in. And hey, it worked. It took a second or two to register everything, but it seemed to work. So back on I got, clipped in, pedalling… and poof. Off again. Rinse and repeat? OK…. I could see my lunch break slipping away. I’d go into the Pairing menu, everything would switch to Paired, I’d close the window, set off, and less than five seconds later everything would drop again.

The obvious solution? Restart Zwift.

Fine. That done, however, I’d lost a good 15 minutes. SST? No.

Instead, I opted for a smash around The Fan Flats. Ideally I wanted to do 30 minutes at least, but that would take me up to 20 minutes before my meet was due to start, and I still needed sandwiches and a shower. Fail.

Doing what I could, I have to say it didn’t feel like the world’s best workout today. Probably better than heading outdoors and getting thoroughly soaked and freezing cold, but not by much.

Frustrating.
