Just an easy one today. Not a huge lot to report. I would have taken it even easier indoors – a true recovery session, as that is what I feel I need most at the moment. Unfortunately that’s very difficult to achieve outdoors.
What I’m finding at the moment is I’m initially stiff, finding it hard to spin. After ten minutes or so, I’m loosened up and feeling ‘normal’. Then within 30 minutes of setting off I’m really lacking in power. It just falls off a cliff. This is very likely my body telling me to properly recover.
The route today was perhaps not a great choice for a ride with recovery in mind. It was a rough split of uphill for the first half, and then down hill for the rest. However, there was a couple of little efforts required in that first half that likely didn’t help me in any way at the moment.
Moan moan. The upshot is I’d still rather be outdoors whilst I can be. The sun is there – not in great quantities today, admittedly, but it’s nice to get out and get some fresh air. There will be plenty of days ahead when it’s rainy and cold again, this is England after all.
At the moment I have no active indoor cycling software subscriptions. That’s a first for me. However, I’m not convinced that’s a good thing. Turbo sessions are important. Something to reflect on in the weekly review.
Actually, off the bike it’s been a turbulent week really. Potentially I’m going to have a bit more free time to cycle during what’s left of June and maybe all of July, and perhaps even into August. Fun times.
