Each week I try to review and reflect on my previous week on the bike. This allows me to see how my fitness and ability is progressing on a wider timescale than day to day. For previous weekly reviews please click here.
As expected, less riding done this week than in the previous 9 🙃
However I still got in a decent amount of activity. I guess it all comes down to priorities.
Sadly I hit on some technical issues this week that I think mean I’m going to need to rethink (again) my indoor training. tl;dr; back to Zwift we go 😉
Here are this week’s rides:
- Tuesday – No Time For Tea To Settle (Outdoors)
- Wednesday – This was consistent with your usual efforts. Thanks Strava! (Outdoors)
- Thursday – The Problems Persist (Indoors / Wahoo SYSTM)
- Saturday – Back Lane Drag-strip Junkie (Outdoors)
- Sunday – Book End (Outdoors)
I’m still having issues with getting the summary report out of Golden Cheetah.
The new version looks fantastic per ride, but it seems like they’ve dropped the summary report – or you’re supposed to make your own? I don’t know, because the widgets to make your own don’t seem anywhere near as comprehensive as the older report. It’s probably me fudging it up.
As per the Garmin chart above though, a real whacky week.
Training load sky high, VO2 max trending rapidly downwards… about the only thing I can understand is the heat acclimation graph. Easy come, easy go 🙂
Actually for once it’s nice to see a graph trending downwards. Boy, that was too hot for me at >30c for a week.
I think my training load is high because I’ve not let myself rest.
Whether that’s because I am still not over the fact I did terribly on my 4DP test, or because I feel the need to physically unwind due to work (surely not?), I seem to have smashed myself, albeit for an average shorter amount of time per ride this week.
The most frustrating thing has to be the Wahoo SYSTM technical issues.
I’m not going to gripe on about that, because I’m sick of doing so and you may be equally or even more sick of reading about it.
I think I’m going to migrate back to Zwift. There’s enough on there to satisfy me and the metrics add up. For the moment I don’t have the time nor the patience to fanny around trying to get software to work when I think it’s probably firmly out of my control anyway.
Weight etc, all good. No issues there.
I believe I’ve updated my settings across the board to 68kg. I’m still routinely getting rollocked by my wife for not weighing myself at the same time each day… but it’s better than nothing.
So for the week ahead it’s pretty much more of the same. Do what I can, when I can, as best I can.
I’m not setting myself any targets beyond the usual 5 rides / 100km, which I’ve not failed to meet (without good reason) for a very long time now.
I got an absolutely terrible nights sleep yesterday. I think in total I got 3.5 hours. Seems to happen every so often, just can’t sleep all night. The last I remember it was 4.30 and I was still wide awake. Sucks, but on the positive side today is a rest day AND tonight I should sleep soundly. That’s if I make it to this evening. I’m flagging like I’m jet lagged and it’s only midday.
Right, best get some lunch.
