Each week I try to review and reflect on my previous week on the bike. This allows me to see how my fitness and ability is progressing on a wider timescale than day to day. For previous weekly reviews please click here.
Overall not a bad week, but it ended on a bit of a downer on Sunday.
On the plus side I’ve discovered a new site this week, Intervals.icu, which gives off lots of stats. It’s the nicest and most comprehensive such site I’ve come across, pictures in this post. Also it’s free to sign up, and use, so long as you only get a trailing 3 months. You have to pay for more. I’m in free trial mode right now.
Here are this week’s rides:
- Tuesday – Tour de Zwift 2024: Stage 2 [Run]
- Wednesday – 96% Bias
- Thursday – Tour de Zwift 2024: Stage 6 [Run]
- Saturday – MyWhoosh – Sweetspot #1 in Yas Marina Circuit
The big thing that I ticked off this week was finishing off the Tour de Zwift 2024 Run.
It’s pretty crazy to think that since Christmas I have now completed 7x 5K runs. One of the events was a total disaster, but I walked it so it counts to completing the overall event.
Doing two 5Ks mid-week was nowhere near as bad as I thought. Honestly it was quite nice to throw in a bit of variety.
However, I only plan to do one run a week moving forwards.
The aim is to ride mid-week, and run Saturday.
With that in mind, next Saturday I will look to do my first Zwift running workout. Not sure what / which yet, as I have not explored the running workouts, and whilst the Zwift app has them on there, it only shows the cycling workouts. I guess running is a second class citizen on Zwift.
I did manage to complete an SST session, albeit at 96% FTP bias. That meant riding at 220/200w, rather than 230/210w.
The plan for the week ahead is to do another one of them (tomorrow), then race on Wednesday. I can’t wait to get back into racing, but I do thinking my overall fitness / power output has dropped and I will struggle.
Ahh well, no worse than usual. Not like I ever contend for the top … 30.
I’d also like to get in a workout on MyWhoosh again mid-week, so will look to do something on there on Thursday.
Right now I’m not sure whether this will be SST-esque, or perhaps a more sedate endurance or low tempo pace. It will depend how thrashed I feel following the Tuesday and Wednesday.
Overall though, fairly positive about the week ahead and looking forward to it.
I’d really love to get in a longer outdoor ride – but the weather and daylight are not quite there yet. I’m craving a ride out to the Trough of Bowland.
