The Sunday morning easy ride. It wasn’t 100% dry this morning but the overnight humidity (or other mystery weather factor) had worked enough magic to dry most of the roads sufficiently.
With all the other higher intensity rides during the week now I feel absolutely no guilt in doing whatever the heck I like on a Sunday morning. Combine this with heading out early for the quiet roads and this is, generally, a very enjoyable ride.
The only downside today was when setting off, my knees were feeling tight. Maybe that’s not the best explanation, but I wasn’t feeling 100% by any means. However, because I knew I didn’t need to do very much / anything in terms of sustained effort, I soon forgot about that and just pedalled however I liked.
For these Sunday rides I am now aiming for >1 hour, and ~30km.
The good news is that I’m definitely already noticing an increased level of fitness from where I was about a month or so ago. Although I was doing a lot of easy pedalling today, I wasn’t tired by the hour mark. That’s a good sign. With the high number of shorter rides I had been doing until recently, I had massively noticed a cliff edge nose dive around the 45 minute mark, which has now subsided.
Beyond that though, not a huge amount to talk about today. So to cut short on the ramble I’m going to end it here and say that it’s been another good week, and this ride was a nice way to cap it off.
