Boy howdy, I’m tired.
So the riding isn’t what’s taking it out of me. It’s the push ups.
After watching a few YouTube videos such as this one:
… and a few others (YT algo does like to suggest many, many more of the same thing), I’ve instigated a routine of doing ahem, not quite 200 push ups a day for the next 30 days.
Well, push ups have never been my thing. 10 was always a decent number for me.
So far I’ve managed:
- 1st May – 47 in 6 minutes 25 seconds
- 2nd May – 54 in 10 minutes 11 seconds
- 3rd May (today) – 52 in 11 minutes 02 seconds
The sharp eyed amongst you will have realised my times are getting worse, and I’m nowhere near 200.
However, that’s a hell of a lot more upper body work than I was ever doing. And like the cycling, good things will / should / better come in time.
I’ve been taking snaps every day of myself, so I will share these after 30 days. Shield your eyes, I’m not a pretty sight. Hopefully I’ll see some kind of results.
But right now, jeez louise my arms are absolutely dead.

Anyway, what’s all this got to do with cycling?
Well, nothing more than I had such tired arms today that riding outdoors was a challenge. I feel like a wobbly jelly. Still, I’m determined to stick with it.
Ride-wise, nothing that good today. I should have taken a rest day but I just wanted to get outdoors. I crave it. Hard to put into words why I need to get out, I just must.
Only a short one anyway, as I needed to get back and sort out the tea.
Probably going to take a bike rest day tomorrow – 5 in a row is enough. But the arms do not get a break. I just push till exhaustion. Hopefully some day soon the burn will ease and the strength will improve. I suspect that will be around day 10-15… so some way to go just yet.
