Old Broken Lung

I might not be able to go fast, but I can, at least, go.

After yesterday’s fairly successful 2 hour ride, I was confident I’d be able to get in some time on the bike after work.

Unfortunately, as 4pm rolled around, I ended up getting involved in a problem that took me up till 5pm and I still hadn’t managed to fix it. Resolving to have another go tomorrow morning, I lost the full hour I had anticipated using for my cycling.

I might, therefore, start later tomorrow and make up the lost time on Zwift, instead. We shall see how I feel in the morning. Failing that, I’ll do another hour after work. Well, I say another hour, I only got 40 minutes in this evening as a result. Still, better than nothing.

And that’s the overall sentiment at the moment.

Anything is better than nothing.

Getting on the bike is good for me both mentally and physically. Well, perhaps the physical aspect is not quite so great at the moment. 40 minutes, 250 calories… it’s all very laid back. But it’s about as much as I can push myself without risking making things worse, or needlessly prolonging my recovery period.

I am itching to get back into something a little more “active”.

My plan is to try and build up the wattage over the next few weeks. Ideally by the end of this week I’ll be pushing around 125-130w for the hour, rather than the 115w at the moment.

Little increments. Nothing silly. Use ERG to keep me from going overboard.

🤬 Covid.
