Last night, as a test of faith, I asked our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ if he might see to it that the roads around my house would be all dry and ridable today, and though I was pushing my luck, I also asked if it might be possible to get a little bump up to 18 or 20c. Anywhere between, I wasn’t too specific.
Lo and behold, I woke (late) to find it had rained. And then it started raining again shortly after I’d first looked, as if to say: Hey, to hell with you. You heathen.
And so there went my chances of an outdoor ride.
What that meant was I’d have to do a Zwift ride… or something indoors… or nothing at all. Have to say, that third option was mighty tempting. But I’ve been pretty lazy this week, and I knew I wanted to go out for my tea, so felt I might need to do some calorie burning to make way for a big plate of gammon and chips.
After Friday my legs were feeling a bit fried. If I had managed to get outdoors, I am sure I would have worked harder than I did today. Opting for one of the FTP Builder workouts, I went for something a tad more intense than the longer blocks of 150w, this one being slightly shorter durations of 170w instead.
In order to take my mind of the monotony, I decided I’d continue on with my so-far-fruitless task of trying to solve my kid’s Rubik’s Cube. Bloody hell. Even with the YouTube tutorials (these things are like 40 minutes long!) I still have yet to solve anything bar one face and the bottom row. What a puzzler.
On the plus side, my incessant desire to solve said cube worked wonders in killing the clock today. Two birds, one stone. However, no closer to solving that middle layer.
But really that’s it for today. Nothing spectacular, just more kilometres on the week. Can’t complain really, but I’m certain I didn’t make enough of a deficit to cover my meal… woof, I am stuffed!
