Each week I try to review and reflect on my previous week on the bike. This allows me to see how my fitness and ability is progressing on a wider timescale than day to day. For previous weekly reviews please click here.
I’m happy enough with how the week went. As always I could have done more, but four rides and a walk is pretty much the baseline for me right now, and I hit that.
The week ahead is a bit messed up as I need to be away tomorrow with work, so I’m going to have to rearrange my riding unfortunately.
Here are this week’s rides:
- 14th – An Hour Goes By So Fast
- 15th – 10 Minutes That Felt Like 20
- 16th – Broken Cleat
- 18th – Hot and Sweaty Morning Activity
According to the graph above I am now at my fittest for a good long while. I think doing the regular 20 minute hard efforts outdoors has helped that, but equally I think just riding is doing plenty of good regardless of the type of riding I do.
It’s definitely harder doing any consistent work outdoors. I just end up doing whatever I want, but overall that has been beneficial it seems.
As the weather continues to look good, I will likely continue to keep riding outdoors for the short term. It will inevitably turn at some point.
The one surprise to me this week was the weight chart.
I hadn’t realised I have been putting on weight – I certainly don’t feel like I am, nor have I changed my diet significantly, or at all … as best I am aware.
Will I be changing anything as a result?
Well, no.
I don’t really know what I could change, as I already feel like I’ve cut out all the crap, save for the odd treat every now and again. That would usually be a bag of crisps twice a week or something, and maybe a can of beer on a Friday night. Hardly anything crazy. But like I say, nothing’s changed really in months, so I don’t get why the weight would be going up. Not concerned, just an observation.
I’m now very close to the end of my Zwift subscription period and I doubt I will be doing any more riding on there for the foreseeable future.
The one thing I would miss will be the racing – not that I have been doing that lately. That’s the one area MyWhoosh is definitely not yet competing against. However, for all other intents and purposes I can’t think I’m going to miss it that much.
Anyway, here’s to the week ahead.
