Winnertime

Due to some work related issues late last night, I didn’t get to do an hour on the bike as I had planned. Instead, I managed just 40 minutes. Which is, admittedly, 40 more minutes than I might have otherwise had.

What I would ideally do on any ride is 30km, if all things are equal. Now, the truth is, 30km outdoors is vastly more intensive than 30km on Zwift. And this can be seen quite clearly by what the Garmin records versus what Zwift records. But still, given my current condition, I’m not looking to split hairs.

As I worked an hour over schedule yesterday, I was either going to wake up on time today and go on the bike for an hour or – being quite lazy, and in actuality what happened – take a later start and a longer dinner break, and go on the bike then, instead.

Given I had about 30 minutes I figured I’d go at 125w, rather than the 115w I have been riding at. What’s 10w, right?

I have to say I found it more challenging. Definitely more breathless. Very worrying. I had felt great all morning – no symptoms, no breathlessness, really no concerns. And then I get on the bike and I got a stark reminder about my current condition. Sucks.

So the ride itself, not a huge lot to write about. I found it quite tedious. The time ticked down very slowly, but we got there in the end.

I might aim to do more during my dinner breaks actually. It’s better, in some ways, to get this out of the way earlier in the day. And it seems I’m far too lazy to get up early at the moment. At least, where getting on the bike is concerned.
