After yesterday I gifted myself a more laid back ride today. Rather than opt for yet another hour or so with the FTP Builder workout, I instead went for a ride with Coco Cadence and her cavalry.
The pace partner rides have really improved since the early days, and I’m wondering if they will feature again this years Halloween Zwift ride? Who knows. What I do know is if you fancy a big group ride, and you don’t want to fit in to a set time / distance, they are ideal.
The Coco Cadence ride, billed as (I think) a 2.5w/kg average ride is largely the blue zone (endurance, but what I have always, wrongly used as recovery) with a few little blips into the green. If I could change anything about the pace partners it would be in giving an unlimited boost at the start, just allowing for 5-10 minutes of warm up. Heck, even make it a structured thing, quite like they do / did in the Zwift Academy. There’s benefit to it.
My aim today was 30km, which I know is a total falsehood. Not only because it’s indoors, but because it’s also much faster to 30km … OK, maybe not much faster, at my level of ability, but certainly much faster to 30km than I could do outdoors. If I could hit 30km in 45 minutes outdoors I’d probably be able to consider ditching IT and heading into the world of the pro peloton 😀
Anyway, all in all a decent, fairly short, but overall good enough effort today. Boy, I’d love to get in an outdoor ride tomorrow. I highly doubt that’s going to happen. It’s rain, rain, more rain, wind, rain, and cold out there lately. The days of outdoor rides are most definitely becoming luxury items… perhaps the weekend holds one in store? Fingers crossed.
All being well, tomorrow will be an SST session over my lunch break. And then that will be it for my midweek rides. Ideally I’d love to get Friday off this week. It’s been a while since I’ve done a 3 / 2 split.
Lastly, and as ever as of late, Garmin yet again told me today was unproductive. I really don’t know what I need to please her. She’s a strict mistress. Never happy. Her loss.
