After Saturday’s ride I had some bad cramp just as we hit the cool down.
It was the kind of cramp that feels like I have a golf ball lodged under my skin, trying to burst out. A bit like Alien… except, as I say, with golf balls.
I didn’t really think much of it, as I’ve had it before and very fortunately it came on as we hit the final 5 minute cool down.
Then Sunday I went for a 10km walk, and again, had no issues.
Monday, I woke up and could barely walk. Nuts. It felt like I had two big bruises where the cramp had been, yet there was no visible bruising. And I’d only had it in my left leg, yet both legs were suffering.
Anyway, the point of this is that today’s ride was intentionally easier because of this. Only I didn’t really feel that bad today. There’s still some tension there, but only when I stretch my feet fully.
I figured I was fine.
And I was fine on the ride.
Then when I unclipped, I was immediately feeling it. So I’m glad that I didn’t go harder. That would probably have been a big mistake.
As it is, I got some exercise in and didn’t kill my legs. I’ll take it.
