I’m going to keep this write up on the brief side as it feels like I’ve only just finished writing up the weekly review.
Apparently this was my first time doing the London 8. Not that I used to ride the London map super frequently or anything. But seemingly this is the first time I’ve done Box Hill since they released their extended achievements system earlier this year.
That came as a bit of a shock to me.
The idea behind this ride was to get started at ~4pm and do an hours worth of active recovery effort. However. Work managed to kybosh that as an idea. I ended up finishing at 5pm, an hour later than expected, and having only had 4.5 hours sleep and starting at 07:30, I am absolutely knackered at this point.
Anyway, I decided to do my 14th advent of cycling day as a 30 minute recovery ride, what with tomorrow being a bit more full on.
Well, that went well enough. Right up until the very end. Finishing my 30 minutes about 3/4’s of the way up Box Hill, I ended up picking up the pace to see off the climb, then continuing on to hit the little kicker after the KOM finish line… and the other one at the end of the subway.
I should have worn my sweat band head band thing, as I was dripping after that.
Right, anyway, job done.
I want to go relax now and have my tea.
Tomorrow should be, fingers crossed, a bit more exciting. Though even more exhausting. That said, I’m taking my hour back so at least I get a late start.
Hoorah.
