An easy evening ride for me today.
But whilst putting the bike on the turbo I noticed my chain looking incredibly rusty in parts. After yesterday’s soaking it’s unsurprising that a lot of the lube got washed off. I use dry lube, which is probably a bit optimistic for the ol’ UK at the end of September.
Now, one of the things I bought in my recent cycling kit and parts haul was a new cassette. I probably should have bought two – but at these current prices, one was enough. Finding one in stock was hard enough. Anyway, the one on the turbo isn’t in bad nick, as most of my riding has been outdoors this year.
The point is, I need to replace my chain when I replace my cassette. This means booking in the bike for a service. There’s some other stuff I need sorting on the bike, so no big deal. But it’s clear the chain is on its last legs. Heck, the mechanic told me I could do to replace it back in Spring… I’m probably seriously tempting fate riding it as it is.
Aside from that, nothing major to report today. Had a bit of a glitch early on in the ride, and one drop out, but by and large this one was just an hour on the week.
Tomorrow is going to be Workout #5 of the Zwift Academy 2021. That is, unless the weather miraculously goes sunny at lunch time. Unlikely.
I see the Finish Line ride is now available for ZA2021. I still have two workouts left… am I behind the times?
