Suki’s Fail Ground

Oh man. I think I messed up. Twice.

Right, so the big deal is that Zwift released v1.31 last night. And to be fair to them they gave a whacking heads up to leave ~15 minutes prior to any event that you are patched up.

Well, I’ve never needed 15 minutes to patch Zwift. Usually it’s done and dusted in less than a minute. I gave myself 10 minutes… but it wasn’t enough. It actually did take the full 15 minutes, which of course meant I missed my event start time.

By the time I got into Zwift’s main menu I’d already been on the bike and pedalling for ~7 minutes in a bid to be ready as soon as the game came up.

Now, I figured if I still had the chance to join the event the best thing to do was to double click the first thing I saw, get in game and hope that I had the option to join the event in the bottom left corner.

By sheer luck the choice of ride I picked was with a Pace Partner ride with C Yumi… on Suki’s Playground route.

Unfortunately when I did get in ride there was no option to join the event. I really was that late. So I figured I’d just continue on with the Pace Partner ride.

The thing with the Tour of Makuri Islands is that you can do any of their events however you like. I officially completed Stage 2 yesterday as a race. But you are apparently able to do the stages as workouts, group rides, solo rides, whatever. As long as you get the job done, it counts.

Well, had I done any prior prep I might have spotted that Stage 2 Longer Ride is on Suki’s Playground. And it’s two laps / 36.8km.

What did I ride today? Suki’s Playground.

How many laps did I do?

Almost two. 34.49km.

For the love of Mike. I almost did the thing I was supposed to do without even realising it, but cut my ride short at 53 minutes because I’d spent the first 7 minutes pedalling “offline”.

Arghhh.

I mean… aww maaaaaan.

Oh well, I ticked off Stage 2 anyway, and whilst I’d liked to have done the Longer Ride as a group ride I’m not going to beat myself up about it. But still, disappointing.

Anyway that’s me for the week. I’ll pick up Stage 3 on Saturday, and maybe look to do the Stage 2 Longer Ride officially in the catch up week. Whoops.
