The Calm After The Storm

Recovery was the order of the day today. Had it been warmer, I would have loved to get outdoors. But out there it was 2c and had been gritted overnight, so I didn’t fancy both the bike and I getting coated in filth.

Fresh off the Alpe, I didn’t much fancy the next stage of the Tour de Zwift 22 just yet. Looking to do the Longer Ride, that would have meant keeping up a fair clip to see through the distance during my lunch break. Saving that for tomorrow, today I opted only for an FTP Builder session, with a more agreeable 5x9s at 160w.

Definitely still feeling stiff from Sunday, it took me a few minutes to get the cadence up to 95rpm and to settle in to the exercise. Fortunately, I had the final video in the GCN Zwift Academy 21 series to see me through. Such a pity I couldn’t quite see the numbers on screen during the two finals, but I have to say I really enjoyed that series – well worth a watch on a lighter ride.

Should be fine for the Stage 3 ride tomorrow – the only concern is that it will almost certainly turn into another TT ride for me. The only time I can do this is at 12 noon, and I have a meeting at 11-11:50 that has never yet failed to run over time.

Maybe tomorrow bucks the trend?
