Two Laps of Innsbruckring

Innsbruck is one of my favourite Zwift locations, alongside Watopia and London. Yet it’s easily my least explored. As such, I was happy to see Innsbruck as today’s guest world.

I haven’t ridden since Tuesday this week. There’s a good reason for this. I had done six days in a row by Tuesday, and whilst I knew I would be away on Thursday and Friday this past week, I also felt my legs were due a good rest. With three days rest, I wasn’t sure how’d I cope this morning.

I was a little nervous. Would I have seriously regressed? Would I find anything more than 10km a struggle?

I’ve signed up to the Tour of Watopia and have my first stage ride tomorrow morning – Sunday 7th April 2019, at 9am. It’s 29.6km, and 268m of climb. I was nervous when I signed up for it, and after several days rest, even more so. As it was, today felt like I had something to prove to myself.

I don’t feel like I pushed any harder today than I have on any of my previous rides. If anything, it felt like I was doing worse.

Yet today I made more statistical progress than ever.

My ride today was in the longer end of the range, for me.

I managed further, and faster than any of my previous rides.

I had my highest TSS score so far

According to the TSS Face, higher is better. Nice!

I completed two sprints whilst riding the Innsbruckring. Having never done this ride before, these are my current and only times. I’m happy that the second beats the first.

Climbed an 8% gradient, twice.

Leveled up 🙂

Rode 10km in either just under, or exactly 20 minutes. Been trying to do that one for a while. However, I consider this unfair, as I’ve mainly been trying to do that on London Classique. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Take another look at one picture above. That’s just after this effort.I was bang on ~1 second later.

For my troubles today, Zwift bumped my guesstimated FTP:

And according to Strava, my average wattage was higher than this, so hopefully still some gains to come.

All in all, a good ride to get into after 3 days off the bike.

Both lucking forward to, and am nervous about tomorrows ride. I’ll do my best. It’s not a race, although it is placed, as I hear.

Not sure how many ride on’s I gave today. I got 6 in return. Ride on!

Catch you tomorrow
