An Ideal Pace

Today’s ride was intentionally a lower intensity effort with the aim to do a little ‘active recovery’ ahead of Thursday’s FTP Test. Can’t wait for that.

My plan today was to ride the PrideOn Ride (I think that’s what it’s called) – but that began at 11:30 I believe, and due to some work conflicts, I ended up in a meeting at that time instead.

Boo. Hiss.

Instead I opted for a fairly light paced group ride, which worked out at about at 2.6w/kg average ride – which was perfect.

For the first 10 minutes I played a game on the iPad, and then for 20 minutes after that I read a book.

That left me just 15 minutes of “being bored”, and so I got to chatting with the bunch which saw out the remaining time.

Even at 45 minutes I was dripping with sweat. No towel today, as I couldn’t find a used one from last night, so had to rely on the headband alone. It might be raining here lately, but the humidity is high enough.

Anyway, overall a good session. Not taxing, but it felt like a worthwhile use of my time. And I enjoyed it, which is always a good thing. Getting off the bike feeling good is great.

Tomorrow is a rest day, if 4 hours of train travel and a 12 hour day can be considered a rest. But it is what it is.

Then Thursday. Oh boy. Here we go.
