Endure It

No chance of repeating the Achterbahn today as Zwift had kindly moved on from Innsbruck, across the borders into France and Paris. As far as my GCSE geography lessons go, I’m fairly sure one is inside the other, but alas today we had both.

I didn’t fancy France. Instead, I opted for a nice bit of Tempus Fugit, settling in for 1.5 hours of endurance riding by way of the 10-12 Week FTP Builder workouts Week 11 Day 3. I’m fairly sure this is my first time riding this one… essentially 2x 30 minutes @ 160w, with 10 minutes warm up, 10 minutes sandwiched between the two “on” blocks, and 10 minutes at the end to round out the session.

By and large this one passed by without incident. I was comfortable enough throughout, though definitely was starting to feel worn by ~25 minutes into each block. I guess that says I need to work a little harder at my endurance sessions.

What’s killing me at the moment is there is no let up in sight in terms of outdoor riding. It’s solidly turbo only at the moment. Outdoors it’s wet, wildly windy, and yesterday we even had a serious dumping of the white stuff. Nuts. The kids trampoline has been destroyed in the storm – much to their disgust – and I believe yet another named storm is on the way. I’ll be amazed if I can get out for a ride in the week ahead, or honestly even before the end of February.

Anyway, keeping it brief today. Got to say I’ve felt very tired after both this one and yesterday’s ride. Not tired in the legs, just physically wiped out. Is that a result of a week off and being out of form, or just all in my head? Who knows.

  1. Hello. In terms of cycling a specific route of your choice, regardless of the Zwift schedule, there is a thing called the world hack:

I’m sure you know about it already but posted just in case you didn’t. I like the Yorkshire routes so regularly amend my preferences so I can ride them when I want.

I’ve been lucky to manage to get outdoors twice in the past 7 days and I’m hoping to get out again tomorrow.

    • Hi Robert, cheers for the link – yeah was aware world swap was possible, but never read up on how.

Nice work on getting outdoors – I could have done it if I’d taken my bike with me on my trip away as the mornings, whilst cold, were dry enough to ride. But once Thursday evening came I decided to leave a day early to beat the storm, and since getting back it’s been atrocious. So bad that the kids trampoline had upturned (again) and this time sheered off one of the poles… destroyed, much to their horror. I believe another named storm is on the way. Fun times.
